Sandra Peterson
President, Diabetes Care

On May 10, 2005, Ms. Peterson was appointed President of Bayer HealthCare Diabetes Care and Executive Vice President Bayer HealthCare.
She joins Bayer from Medco Health Solutions (formerly Merck-Medco) where she was Group President, managing a division with revenues over $7 billion. As an Executive Management team member, she played a role in the strategic spin-off of Medco Health from Merck & Co. Inc. Prior to the spin-off, she was Senior Vice President of Merck-Medco's Health Businesses where she launched several new business lines and generated double digit growth. Areas of responsibility at Medco included business development, strategy, alliance management, product development, branding and marketing. Before Medco, she held various executive positions at Nabisco and Whirlpool Corporation, and was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.
Ms. Peterson holds a B.A. in Government from Cornell University and an M.P.A. degree in Applied Economics from Princeton University. Conversant in German, she received a fellowship from the Robert Bosch Foundation in Stuttgart, Germany and spent a year serving with the German Finance Ministry and the Federation of German Industry. She is a member of the Board of Directors, Dunn & Bradstreet and the Handleman Company and Chairman of the Board of Wildlife Trust.
