Peter Eckenberg
Head of Business Development
Peter Eckenberg is Head of Business Development for Bayer HealthCare Diabetes Care. He assists the President as a day-to-day operations liaison, overseeing and tracking progress against our 6 X 6 management agenda, reviewing operational performance and directing special projects. In addition, he is responsible for redesigning and leading Bayer HealthCare's Diabetes Care business development activities.
Peter joined Bayer in 1995 Peter as a chemical research scientist at Pharma´s research center in Wuppertal. As a medicinal chemist his main focus was in the area of antiviral chemotherapy. As a project leader he brought two preclinical candidates into development. Subsequently, he spent nearly five years in corporate strategy functions and supported the Bayer Holding Board as an internal consultant in a wide range of businesses. Most recently, Peter was Head of Corporate Strategy, Bayer HealthCare, Leverkusen.
Peter received a B.A. (Vordiplom) at Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany in chemistry and physics, an M.A. (Diplom) with a major in organic chemistry, and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry. He had two post doctorial assignments in both.
