Bayer Dream Fund™ Contest Helps Make Dreams a Reality
November 09, 2006
The Bayer Dream Fund contest was created in 2002 in the U.S. with the goal of helping people achieve a significant dream that would not be possible without control of their diabetes through self-monitoring. It provides millions of patients outstanding examples of what can be accomplished through successful diabetes self-management. Today, the contest has expanded to countries such as Denmark, Iceland, Baltic, Norway, Sweden, Canada, and Korea, where the concept translates to “Diabetes People Catch a Star” (Dream).
The Bayer Dream Fund contest was inspired by John Dennis, who in 2002 became the first person with diabetes to qualify for and participate in “Around Alone”, a single-handed global yacht race.
